Ingredients
– 1 cup rice
– 2 cups water
– 1 cup milk
– 1/2 cup jaggery (or brown sugar)
– 1/4 cup split yellow moong dal
– 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
– 2 tablespoons ghee (or butter)
– 1/4 cup cashews
– 1/4 cup raisins
– A pinch of salt
Method
1. Rinse the rice and moong dal together under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
2. In a saucepan, combine the rice, moong dal, and water. Cook over medium heat until it boils.
3. Once boiling, reduce to low heat and cover. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice and dal are soft.
4. Stir in the milk, jaggery, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
5. In a small pan, heat ghee. Add cashews and raisins, frying until golden. Pour this mixture over the cooked rice and serve warm.
