Ingredients
– 2 cups basmati rice
– 4 cups water
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 teaspoon salt
– Optional: 1 bay leaf
– Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro
Method
1. Rinse the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
2. Combine the rinsed rice, water, olive oil, and salt in a saucepan.
3. If desired, add a bay leaf for extra flavor.
4. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.
5. Cook for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
