Barbecue Sauced Chicken Brats With Pickled Onions & Mustard

Ingredients
4 chicken brats
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 red onion, thinly sliced
120 ml apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil
4 hoagie rolls
Spicy brown mustard

Method
1. Start by pickling the red onion. Mix apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and some pepper in a bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add onion slices and let them soak for about 30 minutes.

2. While onions are soaking, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chicken brats and cook until they’re brown on all sides. This usually takes about 10 minutes.

3. Once the brats are cooked, pour barbecue sauce over them. Cover the skillet and let them simmer for another 5 minutes.

4. Remove the brats and place them in hoagie rolls. Top each with pickled onions and a dollop of spicy brown mustard.

5. Serve the brats right away and enjoy your meal with your family.
