Bangers and Mash with Onion Gravy
Ingredients
500 g sausages
4 large potatoes
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 onions
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups beef broth
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 tablespoon oil
Method
Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into chunks. Boil them in a large pot of salted water for about 15 minutes or until soft. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes with milk and butter until creamy.
While the potatoes are cooking, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add sliced onions. Cook until the onions are soft and golden. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
Return the sausages to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the sausages on a bed of mashed potatoes, topped with onion gravy.
