Sourdough Hot Dog Buns Recipe
Ingredients
– 2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
– 1 cup (250 ml) sourdough starter
– ½ cup (125 ml) warm water
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 egg
– 1 tablespoon milk
– 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Method
1. Combine the sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and olive oil in a large bowl. Stir well until everything is mixed.
2. Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes.
3. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it with a clean cloth. Let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
4. Once risen, divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a log shape to form the buns.
5. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Place shaped buns onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush them with egg mixed with milk, then sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
