Buttermilk Cake with Chocolate Frosting
Ingredients
250 ml buttermilk
200 g sugar
75 g butter, softened
2 large eggs
250 g all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
50 g cocoa powder
125 g powdered sugar
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease and flour a round cake pan.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until everything is combined.
4. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and buttermilk, mixing until smooth.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool before frosting. Prepare the frosting by mixing cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and a bit of buttermilk until creamy, then spread it over the cooled cake.
