Ingredients
– 2 cups corn flour
– 1 cup chicken broth
– 1/4 cup vegetable oil
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon pepper
– 500 g mixed meats (beef, pork, or chicken)
– 1/2 cup olives, chopped
– 1/4 cup raisins
– 1/2 cup sweet peppers, diced
– Banana leaves for wrapping
Method
1. In a large bowl, mix corn flour, broth, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
2. Cook your choice of mixed meats in a pot until fully cooked. Shred them when cool.
3. Combine the shredded meat with olives, raisins, and sweet peppers in a bowl.
4. Take a piece of banana leaf, add a scoop of the corn mixture, then place some meat filling in the center.
5. Fold the leaf to wrap the filling tightly and secure with string. Steam the wrapped hallacas for about 1 hour.
