Ingredients
1 kg potatoes
125 ml milk
75 g butter
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup chopped chives
1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)
1/4 tsp paprika (optional)

Method
Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into quarters.
Place the potato pieces into a large pot and cover them with cold water.
Add salt to the water and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
Cook the potatoes until they are tender, about 15-20 minutes, then drain them.
Mash the potatoes in the pot, then stir in milk, butter, sour cream, garlic powder, and black pepper.
