Ingredients
1 cup steel-cut oats
4 cups water
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup brewed coffee
Whipped cream (optional)
Chocolate shavings (optional)
Method
1. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the steel-cut oats and salt. Stir gently.
2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes. The oats should be tender and creamy.
3. Stir in milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Cook for an additional 5 minutes while stirring frequently.
4. In serving cups, pour the brewed coffee then spoon the oatmeal on top.
5. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired.
