Easy Vegan Dal Tadka Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup red lentils
4 cups water
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 piece ginger (about 1 inch), grated
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
Method
1. Rinse the red lentils under running water until it runs clear. Place them in a pot with the water.
2. Bring the pot to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce to low heat and simmer for about 20 minutes until the lentils are soft.
3. In another pan, heat the oil. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to sizzle.
4. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan. Cook for around 5 minutes, stirring, until the onion is golden brown.
5. Stir in the turmeric, garam masala, and cooked lentils. Mix well and add salt to taste. Cook for another 5 minutes.
