Delicious Moong Dal Recipe: A Simple And Nutritious Indian Dish

Ingredients
1 cup split yellow moong dal
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tomato, chopped
4 cups water
Salt, to taste

Method
Rinse the moong dal under cold water until the water runs clear.
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for about 30 seconds.
Next, add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
Stir in turmeric powder and chopped tomato, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
Add the rinsed dal, water, and salt. Bring everything to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the dal is tender.
