Delicious Kacche Aam Aur Lehsun Ki Dal: Lentils With Mango & Garlic

Ingredients

1 cup split red lentils
2 cups water
1 large green mango, diced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method

1. Rinse the lentils under cold water until the water runs clear. Place the lentils in a pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat.

2. Add the diced mango, turmeric, and salt to the lentils. Stir well and let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the lentils are fully cooked and soft.

3. In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil. Once hot, add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

4. Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté until it turns golden brown. Quickly remove from the heat.

5. Pour the garlic mixture over the cooked lentils and mango. Finish with lemon juice and gently mix everything together. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
