Delicious Karwar Style Toor Dal With Drumsticks Recipe

Recipe for Karwar Style Dali Ambat and Maska Sang

Ingredients
1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
2 cups water
2 medium drumsticks, cut into 3-inch pieces
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste

Method
1. Rinse the toor dal thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.

2. In a pot, combine the rinsed dal and 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes until soft.

3. While the dal cooks, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

4. Mix in the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften.

5. Stir in the cooked dal and drumstick pieces into the pan. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 10 minutes until everything is well combined.
