Ingredients
1 ½ cups basmati rice
4 cups water
1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2-3 green cardamom pods
1-2 cloves
1 cup mixed dried fruits (like raisins and almonds)
Salt, to taste
Method
Start by rinsing the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain it.
Heat ghee or oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
Mix in the ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, cardamom pods, and cloves. Stir these ingredients for about a minute.
Pour in the water and add the soaked rice along with salt and dried fruits. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until rice is cooked.
