Ingredients
490g all-purpose flour
120ml unsalted butter, melted
60ml vegetable oil
120ml milk
90g sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
300g pitted dates
60g chopped walnuts
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Combine well.
Pour in the melted butter, oil, and milk. Stir until you form a soft dough.
In another bowl, mash the dates with the walnuts and vanilla until smooth.
Take a small piece of dough, flatten it, and place a spoonful of the date filling in the center. Fold the dough over and shape it into a ball. Repeat until all dough and filling are used. Place on the baking tray.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
