Delicious Homemade Eggnog Recipe: Celebrate The Holidays With Flavor

Ingredients

– 500 ml milk
– 200 ml cream
– 4 egg yolks
– 100 g sugar
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
– 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
– 4 egg whites
– 50 ml rum (optional)
– Pinch of salt

Method

1. Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar in a mixing bowl until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
2. In a saucepan, combine the milk and cream. Heat over medium until it starts to steam, then remove from heat.
3. Slowly pour the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to avoid cooking the eggs.
4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly. This should take around 5-7 minutes.
5. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and rum if using. Cool the eggnog, then refrigerate before serving.
