Ingredients
1 cup split yellow lentils
4 cups water
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
2 green chilies, slit
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Method
Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add mustard seeds and wait for them to pop.
Next, stir in the chopped onion and cook until golden.
Mix in tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
Finally, add the lentils, water, and tamarind pulp. Let it simmer until the lentils are soft.
