Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry
100 g (1 cup) grated cheese
100 g (1/2 cup) pesto
1 egg, beaten
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Flour, for dusting

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. On a clean surface, lightly dust with flour. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
3. Spread the pesto evenly across the pastry. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and add salt and pepper.
4. Cut the pastry into strips, then twist each strip and place them on the prepared tray.
5. Brush the twisted pastry with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
