Ingredients
1 cup chana dal (split chickpeas)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 green chilies, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
4 cups water
Method
Soak the chana dal in water for about 4 hours. Drain and rinse the dal once it’s ready.
Blend the soaked dal with ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and salt until you get a thick paste.
Mix in the chopped onions, coriander, cumin seeds, chili powder, and turmeric.
Shape the mixture into small round patties or vadas. Heat about 2 cups of oil in a pan and fry the vadas until they turn golden brown.
Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
