Homemade Apple Pie Filling Recipe
Ingredients:
– 6 cups of sliced apples (peeled and cored)
– 150 g of granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
– 1/4 teaspoon of salt
– 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
– 30 g of unsalted butter
– 60 ml of water
– 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
Method:
1. Begin by placing the sliced apples in a large bowl. Add the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss everything gently until the apples are well-coated.
2. Pour the lemon juice over the apple mixture and stir again. Set this mixture aside.
3. In a saucepan, combine the water and butter. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts.
4. Stir in the cornstarch, mixing well to avoid lumps. Add the apple mixture to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the apples soften slightly.
5. Allow the filling to cool before using it in your pie or storing it in the fridge.
