Baked Pasta With Mini Meatballs: A Calabria Delight

Ingredients

– 300 g small pasta, like shells or elbows
– 500 g minced beef
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 400 g canned tomatoes
– 250 ml beef stock
– 1 tsp dried oregano
– 200 g shredded cheese
– Olive oil
– Salt and pepper

Method

1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Boil a large pot of salted water, then cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain when done.
2. Heat some olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft.
3. Add the minced beef, cooking until browned. Stir in the canned tomatoes, beef stock, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
4. Mix the drained pasta with the meat sauce. Transfer everything to a baking dish and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
5. Bake in the oven for around 25 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
