Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon water
Food coloring (optional)
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to blend all the ingredients together.
Add softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut shapes using cookie cutters and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool completely before icing them.
